It all started in 1886. It was in this year that the Nova Companhia do Grande Hotel Club das Caldas da Felgueira was founded, after its founding in 1882, the Companhia das Águas Medicinais das Caldas da Felgueira.

The creation of the Grande Hotel and the Estância Termal was only possible after the recognition of Águas da Felgueira, at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1867, and after the opening of the Beira Alta railway - events that allowed the concession of the exploration of the waters and to present to the public all its benefits.
